If you don’t know anything about me, know this. I love masking! There is nothing I’d rather do but get out a tub of mask and lather it on my face while I bask in the sun. I first came across a tub of Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask while on transit. I had some time to kill (and some dollars to burn, evidently). Right then and there, I bought a tub and decided to put it to the test. Read on to see how the Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask fares.
About Kiehls Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask Review
The Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask has been described as an intensely hydrating and nurturing avocado face mask for softer, smoother skin. It works incredibly well for normal, dry, and combination skin types.
The mask is free of sulfates SLS and SLES and parabens, which already makes me love the mask for its clean ingredients. This product comes in recyclable packaging, all the more reason to love it!
So far, so good.
Inspired by freshly picked avocados, this fragrance-free mask has an addictively creamy rich texture that smooths onto skin to hydrate and replenishes it. Formulated with avocado fruit extract, avocado oil, and evening primrose oil, this nourishing mask leaves skin feeling soft and supple while helping prevent water loss by sealing in moisture.
Kiehl is sure this mask is going to be your top pick for healthy and hydrated skin.
Kiehl’s performed a test on 55 subjects of all skin types, and all the participants reported that the mask left their skin softer and hydrated in just 15 minutes. Speak of a miracle mask! They also performed hydration and barrier tests on 26 subjects, and the participants found that their skin hydration improved by 29% in the first 15 minutes and by 24% after an hour.
You can apply the mask anytime you want after thoroughly cleansing your skin. You’re supposed to work the rich, unique formula between your fingertips until it feels smooth and creamy. After it feels smooth, apply a thick, visible layer onto clean skin. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water while massaging your face gently in a circular motion. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel and love the feel of your skin! It can be used up to three times a week.

First Impression: My thoughts and opinions on Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask
Like I mentioned, I bought the mask on a duty-free shop while in transit. I had already been on a really long flight and was looking jet-lagged and tired and all kinds of awful. I decided to buy a small tub so I wouldn’t have to throw it away later when I boarded the plane and made sure to ask the attendant that it would go through.
Imagine buying a tub only to have to throw it away?
Nightmare. So, with my newly bought tub of Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask, I stepped into the bathroom and decided to use the mask then and there and scare passengers with my green gooey face.
It comes in a green plastic tub that has a minimalistic design with a white cap and white letters on the label. I would’ve certainly loved it more if it came in a glass bottle, but at least it’s made of recycled plastic. It is odorless, and I can only catch a whiff of a very small scent, and that kind of reminds me of avocados. I did as the instructions said.
First, I washed my face and then took a big goop of the mask out. It does tend to kind of crumble, so you have to be careful. I dropped a big chunk of the mask while working it between my fingers, and it was sad to see such a pricey product go to waste. So, instead of working the product on my fingers, I put some on my palm and started churning it into a smooth creamy texture. I then applied a big thick layer on my face and just hung out in the bathroom for 15 minutes on my phone and smiling at anybody who looked at me.
It’s only weird if you make it weird, and I am totally comfortable with being seen like this, you feel?
When the 15 minutes were up, I washed my face off with lukewarm water while working the mask off in a circular motion. It is a little sticky and takes some time to come off, but when it does, holy galore! My skin looked and felt hydrated. And this is after an 8-hour flight which had already robbed my skin of hydration. I love it!
I have since bought another tub of Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask.
Does that tell you what you need to know about my love for it already?
Because I do. I love it enough to keep repurchasing it. I like to use it as after I come home from work all tired and weary and use it as a sort of pick me up. There’s nothing that makes me feel better than the feel of healthy hydrated skin, and after all the makeup and grub of the day has washed out, this is what I like to pamper myself with.
It is incredibly hydrating and feels as good as using an avocado, although I’ve heard some people actually do that, and I haven’t, so I can’t tell you whether or not this is better than real avocadoes. But this comes power-packed with avocado oil and avocado fruit extract while boasting other feel-good ingredients, so I’m sure this one comes out as a winner.
What I like and dislike about the Kiehls Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask
- Mask tends to crumble while working it in your fingers
- Is a little difficult to take off
- Cannot be worn all night as a nightly mask
I love Kiehl’s Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask. If you have skin like me that gets particularly dry in the winter, this is the mask you need! It gives you instant results that you and everyone else around can see.
