Winter is here, and it’s time for me to switch up my skincare products for my ever-so drying skin from the cold weather. If you haven’t heard of Estee Lauder, I’m here to introduce one of the better essence products I’ve used so far for the cold season: Estee Lauder Micro Essence: Skin Activating Treatment Lotion. And trust me, I’ve tried over ten different essences, and I think this one works the best for winter.

So if you’re getting dry skin like me because of the cold weather, keep reading!

About Estee Lauder Micro Essence: Skin Activating Treatment Lotion

Estee Lauder is one of my favorite skincare brands to try products from. The brand was established by Estee Lauder herself and her husband, Joseph Lauter. The brand is renowned as one of the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality skincare, makeup, and even fragrance products.

However, their reputable image comes from the production of effective, sophisticated skincare products such as the Estee Lauder Micro Essence. As stated on the label, this product is a micro essence skin activating treatment lotion. Its main purpose is to renew, rebalance, and nourish the skin better than ever. It’s an interesting innovation as it is a mix between an essence and a lotion, so a 2 in 1!

This product is specifically curated and tested on Asian skin, so it would work best if you have a similar complexion. And best of all, this product is dermatologist tested, ophthalmologist tested, and fragrance-free!

Ingredients List

Water, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Peg-75, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Betaine, Pentylene Glycol, Lactobacillus Ferment, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Acetyl Glucosamine, Trehalose, Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile), Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Ppg-5-Ceteth-20, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Citrate, Tromethamine, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol

First Impression: My Thoughts and Impressions on Estee Lauder Micro Essence: Skin Activating Treatment Lotion

When I first tried the product at the store, I was skeptical because the essence-in-lotion seemed too watery for me. I’m used to the feeling of thick formulas applying to my skin, so when I tried it on my hand, it seemed like the product just dried and vanished in thin air. However, the representative said this product is great for everyday use and long term effects without being too harsh on the skin.

I gave it a go, and after about two and a half months of using it, I’m obsessed.

The bottle itself is so luxe with a matte feel to the bottle, and the bottle itself has a good weight to it, which elevates the product experience. I realized the first ingredient listed on the product is water, which made me trust the product more. And as stated before, this skincare product was specifically curated and tested on Asian skin. So as an Asian myself, I knew this product was going to work best for me than any other product. And this assumption held true!

My Experience

Estee Lauder Micro Essence usage 1Estee Lauder Micro Essence usage 2

I first switched over to the Estee Lauder Micro Essence when the weather was getting colder, and I realized my skin was becoming drier and drier. I knew it was time to switch up my skincare products to something more nourishing and rejuvenating for the skin. After purchasing the product, I slowly incorporated it into my nighttime routine first to see if it worked well with the other products I was already using.

Since this is an essence and a lotion, I decided to replace my old Estee Lauder essence and use this essence, then follow up with a moisturizer for extra hydration. Despite my worry of the lotion being too watery for my liking, it actually worked really well into my skin. It dried up quickly but not in a way where it dried up my skin.

The product itself dried well and left my skin hydrating. I couldn’t find many reviews on this product compared to my other Estee Lauder essence that I have used for the past year, but this one turned out perfect to use for the winter season.

All in all, I do feel that it works well to keep the skin nourished and rejuvenated for the wintertime, so if your skin gets dry during the cold weather like mine, I highly recommend this product for you. I definitely felt a difference between continuing to use the other essence that I love for all seasons (except winter) and upgrading to this Micro Essence that actually complements my skin for the drier complexion.

What I Like & Dislike About Estee Lauder Micro Essence: Skin Activating Treatment Lotion

Likes

  • A watery formula that isn’t sticky or leaves a residue
  • Non-abrasive applies to the skin like water
  • Leaves my skin feeling hydrated for a long time after application
  • One dab of essence goes a long way!

Dislikes

  • Possibility of spilling product due to large opening
  • Other than immediate hydration, mild results but effective

Alternative Product

As an alternative to the Estee Lauder Micro Essence, I would definitely recommend their other skincare line, the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. I frequented this essence prior to the more water-based essence in lotion. The formula is thicker and applies a bit stickier on your face, but the formula dries quickly and is as effective as the Micro Essence, in my opinion.

Final Verdict

I definitely recommend this product for someone who is experiencing dry flakey skin during the winter season, and the normal skincare products are not enough to keep the skin moisturized during this cold weather! It’s so important to take care of your skin and make sure the weather does not keep it dry and patchy. From my personal experience, I’d definitely be using the Estee Lauder Micro Essence during the winter seasons to replenish my skin.

Trying out new skincare and beauty products has always been a hobby of mine. I had really bad acne growing up, and using skincare products really helped soothe and calm the skin over time without leaving scars. I’ve tried over 30 different types of skincare products! My skin type is combination, I am oily on my T zones but dry overall.
